Olympic Hero Damian Janikowski Added to KSW 47

Olympic medalist Damian Janikowski (3-1) has today been added to KSW 47 on March 23 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.

Already a massive show, the addition of national hero Janikowski to the fight card has made KSW 47 one of the biggest events in company history. The 29-year-old won a bronze medal in wrestling at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

After a glittering wrestling career, Janikowski transitioned to MMA and made his pro debut in front of 57,766 people at KSW 39 back in May 2017. Within his first year in KSW he made a huge impact scoring TKO wins over much more experienced opponents, including former KSW champ Antoni Chmielewski and former BAMMA & EFC champ Yannick Bahati.

Then at KSW 45: The Return to Wembley he would experience his first loss when he took on the vastly more experienced Michal Materla, a former champion in KSW and a fighter long regarded as one of Europe’s best. Janikowski was applauded for his performance in the fight and for actually taking on a fighter like Materla this quick into his MMA career.

An opponent for Janikowski will be announced in the coming days.

KSW 47 features a Champ vs. Champ headliner between heavyweight champ Phil De Fries (16-6) and light heavyweight champ Tomasz Narkun (16-2), a co-main event contest between Five Time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski (12-6) and Olympic Gold Medalist Powerlifter Szymon Kolecki (6-1) and a clash between former welterweight champions Borys Mankowski (19-7-1) and Dricus Du Plessis (12-2).

KSW 47 will be available to watch live around the world via online PPV at www.KSWTV.com on March 23.
