First fighter in KSW XII tournament
Wojciech Orłowski (2-1) is the first announced competitor in the KSW 12 heavyweight tournament, which takes place December 11th in Warsaw, Poland. He is a 28-year
old wrestler, an understudy of Judo Olympic Champion Paweł Nastula. Here is the interview with the fighter about his preparations for the December's event.
Hi Wojtek
-Hello
Where and with whom do you train currently?
- I train in Paweł Nastula's club every morning, with Paweł himself, Robert Jocz, Daniel Omielańczuk, Arek Jędraczka, Łukasz Jurkowski, Andriej Molchanov, Andrzej
Pniewski, Grzegorz Trędowski, Michał Starbała, Paweł Orsiak and many other fighters. Every evening I wrestle at Gwardia Warsaw under the eye of coaches Kazimierz
Macioch, Krzysztof Wojtowicz and my friend Michał Stanisławski. Besides that I have functional strength training for MMA every now and then.
You are a great wrestler, is it going to be your main weapon in the tournament.
- Thanks for compliment, it's nice hear such things. As for my main weapon, it depends on the opponent and how the fight goes. However, it's not a secret that takedowns
are the best part of my game, so far at least. I work hard on improving my all round MMA skills and I hope I will surprise fans in my fights.
How does you daily training regimen look like?
- I wake up and go to train. I came home, have some rest and head for another training (laughing). Seriously, I work a lot on my stand-up. My strength preparations are
already over, now I focus on sparing sessions and conditioning. Before the show I'll work on speed and concentrate on regenerating my body. Nothing spectacular.
How much are you going to weigh?
- About 103 kilograms.
Who are your sparing partners?
- I usually have sparing sessions in the morning with my teammates whom I've already mentioned. Sometimes our friends from Czestochowa Lukasz Woś, Jacek Czajczyński
and Krsystian Kwiecień visit us, so I also spar with them.
Who will be in your corner? Pawel Nastula or someone else?
- Pawel Nastula and Robert Jocz will both be in my corner.
When KSW owners approached you about participating in the tournament? How long did it take you to accept the offer?
- I learnt about possibility of fighting at KSW 12 a few months ago, but I signed the contract only two weeks ago. I didn't think about it long at all. KSW is a quality
brand with many dedicated viewers not only in Poland. Fighting in this organization is a great honor for me, and I'm really grateful to the KSW owners, to Maciek
Kawulski especially.
Wasn't your last MMA fight not too long ago?
- I had my last MMA fight in May last year, so it's quite long ago. I train almost all the time, though, so the break won't affect me.
What are your biggest achievements outside of MMA?
- I am multiple medalist of Polish Freestyle Wrestling Championships, I participated in Wrestling World Cup, I won Polish Amateur MMA Championships and Submission
Fighting tournament "Zbyszko Cup" twice. I also took second place in Polish Cup in SF and won multiple Wrestling Championships in Silesia and Masovia.
Wojciech Orłowski will be in the finals of KSW heavyweight tournament because...
- ...he'll do everything what it takes to get there and win. We'll see what will happen, I hope I'll make it.
A few words to your fans, friends and family...
- I'd like to thank all the people who help me in my training, in particular my friend Robert Jocz, who puts a lot work in my preparations. I'd like to thank Pawel
Nastula and the whole crew training in Nastula Judo Fitness. Greeting to me my friends all around Poland: Janek Błachowicz, Tomek Drwal, Damian Grabowski, cheers to
my boys in Szczecin: Cipek and Daniel and guys from Wydra Gym. Kisses to my mother, whom I love the most in the world and to my nephew Olek, who will be Polish
Wrestling Champ soon. I say hello to all whom I forgot to mention!
If I'm deserving to have fans already, I'll be grateful if you keep you fingers crossed for me! Regards, Wojtek!
