National hero Damian Janikowski (1-0) has been added to the KSW 41 card on December 23rd at the Spodek arena in Katowice, Poland.

The 28-year-old won a bronze medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Earlier this year he made his MMA debut at the historic KSW 39 event in front of nearly 58,000 people in Warsaw with a highlight reel first round TKO win over veteran Julio Gallegos (10-7).

Despite his wrestling background it was his striking which won Janikowski the contest. A standing knee from the clinch dropped Gallegos to canvas where Janikowski swarmed with vicious ground and pound before the referee called an end to the fight with just less than 90 seconds on the clock.

With his wrestling background, his display of striking on show in his debut, and the ability to perform in such a way in front of the second largest MMA crowd ever assembled, Damian Janikowski is most certainly an emerging fighter to keep an eye on.

His opponent for KSW 41 will be announced very soon.

Borys Mankowski (19-6-1) will defend his welterweight title against top P4P South African fighter Dricus du Plessis (11-1) in the main event while the co-main event will see rapper Popek Monster (3-2) will square off against Polish actor Tomasz Oswiecinski (0-0) in the heavyweight division. Also Kleber Koike Erbst (22-4-1) will get the opportunity to defend his featherweight title for the first time as he takes on KSW veteran and former champ Artur ’Kornik’ Sowinski (18-8).
