“I want to win this fight as quickly as the previous ones” – interview with Kamil Waluś

KSW heavyweight Kamil Waluś talks his preparation for KSW 25 bout with Oli Thompson in the brief interview presented below.

Hello Kamil. First of all tell us about your hand injury, which caused your withdrawal from the fight against Thompson that was scheduled back for KSW 24?

-My hand is 100% healthy. I visited my doctor a few days ago and he was happy to announce to me that the bicep is completely healed.

You were supposed to lock horns with Thompson back in September. Those preparations are now in the past. At the moment you are in the final stages of the new training camp. Have you done anything differently this time?

-I had to change a few things because of the injury. However, I’m prepared in every aspect of the game. Also thanks to my coach I’m more focused on fight strategy, that may be the biggest difference.

You mentioned your coach, so I have to ask you about your co-operation with Piotr Jeleniewski. You used to train under Łukasz Jurkowski, but recently you’ve made a full-time move to PJ Promotion Group. Tell us about it.

-I have worked with Piotr Jeleniewski since my MMA debut. When I was ill in June I couldn’t train with the group, I needed to be on individual cycle. I went to Piotr, we started to train together and I later decided to join his team.

We know about your coach, but what about sparring partners. Who did you spar with before your upcoming fight?

-Marcin Naruszczka, Tomasz Lipiński and Mariusz Pudzianowski help me. Next week a few others will come for sparrings, but I don’t know the names yet.

Let’s talk about your KSW 25 foe. How would you characterize him?

-He’s dangerous, tough and he wants to win as badly as I do.

You are not known for having longer fights. Is your clash with Thompson also going to be finished quickly?

- I want to win this fight as quickly as the previous ones. As quickly as possible.
