“I’m happy to fight on this show” – interview with Karol Bedorf
We present you with the interview with one of the top heavyweights in Poland Karol Bedorf, who is set to face Rogent Lloret at the upcoming KSW15 show. The popular Coco talks about his preparations, trainings in Holland and gives his prediction for the fights.
KSW 15 is only a few days away. Your preparations are probably over. How did they go?
- My preparations for KSW 15 were unique. I worked with the coach of the Polish national rowing team, he was responsible for my physical preparations. My grappling trainings were supervised by Piotr Baginski, while my strength and conditioning program was prepared by Janek Wodzynski. I’ve trained for four months, I went to Holland three times and participated in a special sparring camp organized by Bagi. If we hadn’t made any mistakes and I’d finish my training cycle properly, I should hit my peak form on March 19th weighing one hundred and three kilograms.
Were your preparations free of injuries?
- I didn’t have any major problems, just usual minor injuries especially after sparring sessions in Golden Glory.
You went to Golden Glory three times. Tell us about it.
- The trainings there are not really complicated, they mostly focus on striking. Each training session ends with sparrings, this allowed me to gain a lot of new experiences. I trained with Errol Zimmerman, Dion Starring, Gokhan Saki and many others. I don’t think it changed my fighting style, but I definitely learnt a lot. I have to say that no fighter is pulling his punches there, even in training.
You are scheduled to face Rogent Llorent. What do you know about him?
- Rogent is a really tough and experienced fighter. He’s a little bit taller than me, but I’ve already prepared a special strategy for him.
You both met in BJJ competition. This time punches will be involved. Do you want a spectacular knockout?
- I treat this fight like a normal competition. I’m not concerned about the outcome, I just want to perform well and give my best. I respect him as an athlete and I’m really glad I’m able to face such a great opponent.
What can you gain by beating one of the top heavyweights in Europe?
- I don’t think about it. I’m focused on the bout, not the future after it. This is MMA and anything can happen.
KSW 15 is stacked with many great fights. The fight card doesn’t have any week points. What is you opinion about this event?
- It is the best show in Polish MMA history. I’m happy to be part of it.
Could you give us your picks for Maciej Gorski vs Niko Puhakka and Jan Blachowicz vs Thierry Sokoudjou?
- Gorski by knockout, Blachowicz by armbar.
The Torwar show sold out very quickly. However fans can still watch it on Polsat. Please, invite the viewers to watch KSW 15 on March 19th.
- KSW 15 is an exceptional event. No other show brings these kind of experiences and excitement. That’s why I invite you all to watch Polsat and Polsat Sport. Don’t hesitate, bring over your friends or go together to the pub. No Pole should miss KSW 15, March 19th on Polsat.
