“I’m on Jewtuszko’s level and I want to beat him” – interview with Artur Sowinski

Two of the best Polish lightweights Maciej Jewtuszko and Artur Sowinski will square off against each other at KSW17 – Revenge on November 26th in Lodz. We already interviewed the popular “Irokez”, now it’s to talk about this fight with “Kornik”. Enjoy the fresh interview with Artur Sowinski below.

Hello Artur. How was your summertime?
- Hello. Thanks, it was really good. I had some rest and now I’m ready to work.
Did you go anywhere abroad?
- Yes, I was in Crete.
I’ve noticed that you put on some muscles. How much do you weigh?
- I’m seventy-nine kilograms at the moment.
You are set to face Maciej Jewtuszko on November’s KSW card. You’ve already trained with him a few times. What can you say about him?
- “Irokez” is a very good fighter. His stand-up skills are solid, but he’s also amazingly potent on the ground. Obviously his physical attributes are quite impressive as well. He definitely won’t be an easy foe as he’s got many aces in his sleeves. He’s got weaknesses like every other fighter, though.
Jewtuszko told us in the interview that he knew where you weak points are and he was planning to capitalize on them during the fight. Do you have an idea what he’s talking about?
- Honestly, I don’t really know. It’s obvious that after sparring together we pretty much know what we are capable of. Who’s going to use this knowledge in the fight? We’ll see.
What about Jewtuszko’s game. What are his strengths and weaknesses?
- As I said, for a lightweight, he’s a physical specimen and he knows how to use it.
...and his weak points are?
- I don’t want to talk about it. I’d rather expose them in the fight.
What will be your strategy for this bout?
- It will be effective (laughs)! Seriously, I can’t reveal my game plan.
You’ve had many tough fights so far in your career, but fighting a former UFC fighter is a pretty big opportunity for you, right?
- I approach every fight like it’s the most important fight of my career. I try to be calm and composed no matter who I’m fighting next. I know that I’m on Irokez’s level and I’ll do everything in my power to defeat him.
Tell us about your training camp for this fight. Do you plan to stay in Silesian Cage Club or visit different gyms in Poland or abroad?
- My main preparations will be based in Silesian Cage Club. I will also visit Olsztyn and train with Arrachion MMA guys. That’s pretty much it.
You are a regular at KSW shows. Artur do you feel that KSW Federation supports you?
- I’m very happy that I have the chance to fight for such a great organization. The KSW shows are spectacular and it’s a great fun to be a part of it. I just hope that my KSW winning streak will continue and the promoters will be still interested in my services.
Many fighters are not satisfied with what KSW offers them and that’s why they don’t fight for Maciej and Martin. What is your take on that?
- I’m satisfied with the terms of my contract and as I said earlier I’m really happy that I’m able to fight for KSW.
What can you say about the co-operation with KSW so far?
- I’d say that since the beginning everything has been logical and transparent. What’s most important for me KSW Federation owners have always fulfilled their promises. These guys are true professionals.
Artur thanks for the interview. Would like to send any thanks or greets?
- I’d like to thank my sponsors Panda and Tommed for their support and greet the entire Silesian Cage Club Katowice team, my family, my girlfriend and friends as well as all the fans who cheers for me when I fight.
