We are a little over a week away from KSW 40 in Dublin, Ireland where ’The Violence Queen’ Ariane Lipski (9-3) will make the first defense of her flyweight title, a crown she won in front of a record setting crowd of just under 58,000 people at KSW 39. This achievement is something the Brazilian will cherish as she feels she placed herself in the history books of women’s MMA.

"Conquering my first belt in front of nearly 58,000 people was exciting and certainly a great experience that few people have had", said Lipski. "I was the female athlete who won that title in front of the largest present day MMA audience. I consider that I made history and realized one of my dreams at the same time." So far Lipski has dispatched of three tough opponents in the KSW cage, all in equally impressive fashion. The previously undefeated Katarzyna Lubonska, MMA veteran Sheila Gaff, and the highly ranked Diana Belbita have all fallen to the hands and submissions of Lipski. But now the 23-year-old faces a new but familiar opponent in fellow Brazilian Mariana Morais (12-4) at KSW 40.

The pair were once scheduled to face one another in Brazil a couple of years ago. Morais is a formidable opponent with a deadly submission game. Eight of her past nine wins have come via way of choke hold or armbar. Despite Marais’ grappling, Lipski said she is not worried at all about the fight reaching the ground but rather she has supreme confidence in finishing the fight wherever it goes.
"I am not afraid", stated Lipski. "I am very confident in my training and my evolution in jiu jitsu, if the fight happens to hit the ground then I will finish it there. I’m better technically in the stand-up and I have a lot of confidence in my grappling. I am always evolving and I’m prepared for any fight situation."

Despite hailing from Brazil, Lipski has family connection to Poland - home of KSW. And although she might be thousands of miles away from her home town of Curatiba, Brazil the flyweight feels very welcome by the fans of Poland when she competed there and now looks to make new fans in Ireland when she competes there at KSW 40.

"My family came from Poland and I am sure it was not by chance that my first international fight was in Poland, it was written in my own story that I would be KSW champion. The Polish people have welcomed me with great affection and chose me as a representative of them. I am very happy for the support I receive every day from them", smiled Lipski. "Now I am very happy to be able to get to know Ireland. It is a beautiful country and I know that the Irish are very fond of MMA. I intend to make a great fight and win some more Irish fans."

Finishing off the conversation Lipski wanted to send a message to Morais ahead of their five round title fight in the heart of Dublin on October 22nd.

"I hope she has trained well and the enjoys the minutes in the cage because this is the closest she will get to my belt", warned Lipski. "It will be another day on the African Savannah where the lion goes out to hunt."
