Azhiev without an opponent. Amasinger injured!
Dean Amasinger will not fight at KSW 20, on September 15th in Gdańsk/Sopot’s Ergo Arena. “The Rebnegade” suffered a hamstring injury, which prevents him from facing the talented Anzor Azhiev.
Here is the official statement from Amasinger’s physiotherapist Sonia Henry:
"Dean presented with hamstring pain after an incident at training. On examination he had marked tenderness over the lateral hamstring tendon (biceps femoris) and pain on squat. The hamstring itself had gone into a spasm. There was also localised swelling over the tendon with some crepitus. Strength was good but there is evidence of a slight rupture and the patient did report a popping sound at the time of injury which suggests an acute traumatic episode. I suspect some straining to the tendon at it's insertion point which is a concern as re-injury could cause more significant damage.
I would recommend avoiding serious competition until the injury resolves, and also would recommend rehabilitation and treatment in the form of physiotherapy (particularly focusing on hamstring and glute strengthening). "
We asked Anzor’s manager Piotr Jeleniewski for comment. Here is what he said: - Opponents shuffles are part of this sport, where the injuries happen frequently on different stages of fight preparations. We’ve learnt about Amasinger’s dropout, but we continue to work awaiting for information from KSW owners about the new opponent for Anzor.
