Best Submissions in KSW in 2024

 

Almost 80 of the fights last year ended with a finish and 19 of them were submissions. Let us remind you the ten submissions of 2024 which impressed us and the fans the most.

Ewelina Woźniak vs. Alexandra Toncheva (XTB KSW 90)

Ewelina Woźniak made her debut in KSW on January 20th, 2024 against Alexandra Toncheva from Bulgaria. The Polish fighter charged on her opponent with punches and kicks right from the get go. She was very brutal both on her feet and on the ground. The Bulgarian defended herself and responded with heavy boxing combinations, but in the second round she fell victim to a leg triangle choke and lost. That finish was named the submission of the night.

Valeriu Mircea vs. Leo Brichta (KSW 91)

On February 17th, 2024, we witnessed a title match for the interim lightweight belt between Valeriu Mircea and Leo Brichta. In this exciting confrontation, both fighters presented the whole beauty of MMA. They engaged in some heavy brawling and made their best effort on the ground. With each round, Brichta was gaining advantage on his feet and Mircea was looking for his opportunity on the ground. He ended up finding it in the fourth round when he submitted Brichta by rear naked choke and won the interim title.

Adrian Bartosiński vs. Igor Michaliszyn (XTB KSW 94)

On May 11th 2024 we witnessed the title match of the welterweight division. The undefeated dominator Adrian Bartosiński faced Igor Michaliszyn ranked as number three who at the time was undefeated in KSW and was riding a five win streak. The champion relied on takedowns and ground game while the challenger tried his luck with striking combinations. However, Michaliszyn managed to take Bartosiński down in the third round and proceeded to attack him there  with punches and elbows. Bartosiński finally managed to get up by the fence, but Michaliszyn took him down again and controlled him on the ground. However, Adrian suddenly charged on his opponent, grabbed his leg and submitted Michaliszyn by leg lock. This finish by Bartosiński was named the submission of the night.

Jakub Wikłacz vs. Sebastian Przybysz 5 (KSW 95)

On June 7th 2024, the bantamweight champion Jakub Wikłacz faced Sebastian Przybysz ranked as number one. Both fighters started with instant and heavy blows, throwing kicks and punches. Wikłacz tried to pressure his opponent, but Przybysz remained dynamic on his feet. Both sides were throwing some shots with increasing power and remained unrelenting. In the second round, a cut appeared on the champion’s face and he was bleeding, but they both kept fighting with incredible pace. Suddenly, Jakub threw a frontal kick and right after he managed to get Przybysz in a guillotine choke to finish him off. This move by Wikłacz was named the best submission of the night.

Bruno Azevedo vs. Oleksii Polishchuk (KSW 97)

On August 2024, Oleksii Polischchuk welcomed the experienced Bruno Azevedo inside the KSW cage. In the beginning, it seemed like they would stay on their feet, but Azevedo also managed to demonstrate his brilliant skills on the ground. The first round fell just a few minutes short for him to get a submission, but in the second one he took Polishchuk down once again, mounted him and grabbed him in a triangle choke until Oleksii tapped out. This finish by Azevedo was named the submission of the night.

Islam Djabrailov vs. Mariusz Joniak (XTB KSW 98)

On September 14th, Islam Djabrailov faced Mariusz Joniak. Both fighters started by testing each other out. The first round was a wonderful grappling competition, but we saw the finish only in the second one. The Pole started to pressure Djabrailov on his feet, but Islam clinched and took his opponent down. Joniak tried to grab his opponent’s leg, but Islam reversed the position, grabbed the Pole’s leg, secured a leg lock and forced Joniak to tap out. Djabrailov’s finish was named the submission of the night.

Artur Szczepaniak vs. Krystian Kaszubowski (XTB KSW 98)

On September 2024, Artur Szczepaniak faced Krystian Kaszubowsiki as he returned to KSW. In his very first combination, Szczepaniak clinched and proved that he was looking for his chance on the ground. Kaszubowski broke that hold and attacked on his feet. Szczepaniak grabbed his legs and took Kaszubowski down. After a few position switches on the ground, he got Krystian in the brabo choke and forced him to tap out.

Marcin Wójcik vs. Damian Piwowarczyk (XTB KSW 98)

On September 2024, two former challengers for the light heavyweight title collided as Damian Piwowarczyk faced Marcin Wójcik. Damian started with kicks and Marcin started with punches. However, it was Piwowarczyk who landed the first significant punch to put Wójcik on the canvass. The fight went to the ground and Marcin suddenly took initiative. He got his opponent’s back and strived for a rear naked choke. Damian got up with Wójcik on his back and that’s where the Giant finalized his submission. The fighters fell down and Damian Piwowarczyk tapped out on the ground.

Mamed Chalidow vs. Adrian Bartosiński (XTB KSW 100)

On November 16th, we witnessed a superfight. Mamed Khalidov, the true legend of KSW, returned to face the welterweight champion Adrian Bartosiński. In the first round, Adrian definitely took the initiative. He successfully took the fight to the ground, controlled Mamed there and was punching him there.  However, in the second round Mamed took the initiative and took the fight to the ground himself. Suddenly, he went behind his opponent back and forced him to tap out. Khalidov’s finish was selected as the submission of the night.

Marcin Held vs. Davy Gallon (XTB KSW 101)

On December 20th, Marcin Held welcome the debuting Davy Gallon. After a few attacks, Marcin successfully intercepted his opponent’s leg and tried to take him down. They clinched by the fence and that’s where the Pole successfully took the fight to the ground. Held was in total control of what was going on. After mounting his opponent, he grabbed a guillotine choke and forced Gallon to tap out. Marcin’s finish was named the best submission of the night.
