Bońkowska and Kowalkiewicz battle for the tournament finale

Bońkowska and Kowalkiewicz battle for the tournament finale

When the KSW women’s tournament was first announced early this year, we did not have any idea how the MMA community will receive the female fights. The concrete structure of the tournament was not set either. After analyzing all the pros and cons, we decided that a standard single-elimination tourney is more suitable than the round-robin one.

It means that Marta Chojnoska, who defeated Paulina Suska at KSW19 is the first finalist of the under fifty-five kilograms competition. She will now meet the winner in the Paulina Bońkowska and Karolina Kowalkiewicz bout that takes place at KSW21 on December 1st in Warsaw.

Chojnoska and Suska were already introduced to our readers, now it is time to meet the other two ladies competing in KSW.

Paulina Bońkowska came to MMA from a judo background. She trains out of Olsztyn’s Arrachion team with such renowned Polish combat sports superstars as Mamed Khalidov and Aslambek Saidov. What is important, her Szymon Bońkowski is her main MMA coach, while Paweł Derlacz is responsible for her stand-up skills.

20-year-old Bońkowska has four professional bouts under her belt, with three victories and only one loss. She is one hundred sixty-five centimeters tall and weighs fifty-four kilograms. Ground fighting is obviously her biggest strength, but Paulina is making significant progress in striking, what can be observed in her recent outings.

Karolina Kowalkiewicz lives in Łódź, where she trains under Marcin Rogowski in Gracie Barra. She is one hundred sixty-three centimeters tall and weighs fifty-five kilograms. Her background style for MMA is rather unusual as she is a krav maga combat and self-defense system instructor.

Attractive, humble and a little-bit shy Kowalkiewicz made her MMA debut in May of 2012 in Gdynia. Her first pro fight was a great success. She stopped her foe with ground strikes in the first round. KSW 21 appearance will her sophomore MMA bout.

The stakes are high in the Bońkowska versus Kowalkiewicz clash. Two talented ladies from successful Polish MMA camps will fight hard to earn their spot in the KSW tournament finale.
