Damian Janikowski faces Aleksandar Ilic at KSW 47
Polish Olympic hero Damian Janikowski (3-1) will meet promotional newcomer Aleksandar Ilic (10-2) at KSW 47 at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland on March 23.
Janikowski took KSW by storm since making his debut just over 18 months ago. A bronze medalist in wrestling at the London 2012 Olympics, Janikowski made his debut in impressive fashion with a first round TKO win over the vastly more experienced American Julio Gallegos KSW 39. The 29-year-old then went on to defeat former KSW champion Antoni Chmielewski and former BAMMA & EFC champion Yannick Bahati, dispatching of both with dominant TKO wins.
Then at KSW 45: The Return to Wembley he would experience his first loss when he took on the vastly more experienced Michal Materla, a former champion in KSW and a fighter long regarded as one of Europe’s best. Janikowski was applauded for his performance in the fight and for actually taking on a fighter like Materla this quick into his MMA career.
Now the Polish superstar will face Serbia’s Aleksandar ’Joker’ Ilic. The 30-year-old enters KSW on a four-fight-win-streak and has amassed a fierce reputation on the European scene of putting his opponents away. Overall he has an 80% finishing rate and seven first round stoppages on his record. Most of his finishes came via strikes, and he is certainly no joke.
KSW 47 features a Champ vs. Champ headliner between heavyweight champ Phil De Fries (16-6) and light heavyweight champ Tomasz Narkun (16-2), a co-main event contest between Five Time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski (12-6) and Olympic Gold Medalist Weightlifter Szymon Kolecki (6-1), and a heated clash between former welterweight champion Borys Mankowski (19-7-1) and TUF winner Norman Parke (25-6-1).
KSW 47 will be available to watch live around the world via online PPV at www.KSWTV.com on March 23 from the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.
