Five Reasons to watch KSW 44

KSW 44 is finally upon us and goes down this Saturday, June 9 and is available to watch around the world on www.KSWTV.com. If you needed any extra convincing to tune in then here are Five Reasons to watch KSW 44!!

1. Finally: Pudzianowski vs. Bedorf

Five times world’s strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski (12-5) and former KSW heavyweight champion Karol Bedorf (14-3) will finally square off in a fight that is years in the making! Pudzianowski is arguably in the best shape of his MMA career and comes into this contest having won his past three fights. Sidelined through injury for the past year, Bedorf will be chomping at the bit to get back into the cage and will see this as the perfect opportunity to move a step closer to get his heavyweight title back. Fans will finally see these two behemoths meet in the middle of the KSW arena.

2. Heavy Hitters : Materla vs. Zawada

Two of Europe’s hardest hitting fighters will collide as former KSW champ Michal Materla (25-6) meets the well-travelled veteran Martin Zawada (28-14-1) in a clash that is certain to provide a highlight reel finish. Both men are known for their heavy hands and have an incredible 43 career finishes between them.

Materla is one of the most popular fighters in Poland and with incredible KO wins over Rousimar Palhares, Paulo Thiago, and veteran Antoni Chmielewski in three of his past four fights its not hard to see why. Coming up against Zawada, a fighter known for his incredible toughness and ability to end the fight at any moment of the fight, is sure to provide a dangerous challenge and potentially a devastating finish either way. I do not suggest blinking during this one.

3. The Crossover: Jun vs. Oswiecinski

With huge crossover appeal this fight will be contested between Polish action movie star Tomasz ’Strachu’ Oswiecinski (1-0) and world famous bodybuilder & fitness model Erko Jun (0-0). ’Strachu’ made his MMA debut last December in another marquee fight fight against the infamous Popek Monster. In that fight the actor-turned fighter showed some great heart and determination rallying back from what was a very one-sided first round to score a TKO finish in the second round.

Now coming in as the debut fighter is Erko Jun, an internet famous bodybuilder with over a million instagram followers. The Bosnian is returning to his martial arts roots having abandoned fighting disciplines in his youth following a horrific leg injury which left him paralysed. This injury lead him down the fitness and bodybuilding path as his did intense physiotherapy to regenerate mobility in his leg. Jun trains out of the renowned UFD gym in Germany alongside some of Europe’s top fighters including Roberto Soldic.

This heavyweight contest promises to be entertaining on so many levels!

4. Grapplers Delight: Erbst vs. Ziolkowski

What an interesting fight this is. On one hand we have Kleber Koike Erbst (23-4-1), a fighter who is almost undefeated in the past decade with 19 wins and 1 loss (a loss he avenged in his last fight), and on the other we have Marion Ziolkowski (19-6-1), a top prospect in Poland coming in on short notice but with a significant size advantage for this catchweight fight.

Between them they have an unbelievable 31 submission wins combined. That’s an incredible 74% submission rate! If we include TKO/KO finishes the chance of this fight ending via stoppage increases to 91%.

Erbst has been competing at a high level for longer and his grappling is a little more refined but with Ziolkowski having the size and striking advantage plus the ’nothing to lose’ situation for the debuting fighter, this is a very intriguing fight.

5. Irish Title Hopes

They are two of Irish MMA’s top and longest serving fighters and now they are on the cusp of challenging for KSW titles. SBG’s Chris Fields (12-7-1) squares off against UFC veteran Wagner Prado (13-3) in the light heavyweight division and Team Ryano’s Paul Redmond (14-6) meets Poland’s Gracjan Szadzinski (7-2) in the lightweight division. With no clear challengers in each division both men have the opportunity to stake their claim for title shots.
