Five Reasons to Watch KSW 48

1. The New Age

The main event of KSW 48 will see a 21-year-old Salahdine Parnasse (12-0-1) take on 25-year-old Roman Szymanski (11-3) for the interim KSW featherweight title. As the sport of MMA gets older we consistently see new waves of talent come through who seem to progress the game further.

Parnasse and Szymanski are two example of this new generation in the game. Despite their young ages they have already a world of experience behind them and an expansive and ever growing skillset, both equally as impressive as the other.

French fighter Parnasse has already registered wins around Europe, China, and holds victories over two former KSW champions while Poland’s Szymanski is 3-1 in KSW and boasts three ’of the night’ bonuses already in KSW. They have past each challenge presented to them and now they must face each other with the winner being crowned interim KSW featherweight champion.

2. A Rematch Fourteen Years in the Making

In 2005 a young Lukasz Jurkowski and Stjepan Bekavac faced one another. Both had recently just started their respective pro careers. Jurkowski made his debut the year prior winning the KSW 1 tournament and emerged as KSW’s first star while Bekavac made his debut early in 2005 and strung together a couple of wins.

The fight itself in 2005 ended abruptly as Jurkowski injured himself in the second round and Bekavac was awarded the TKO win. This loss has haunted Jurkowski over the years and he claims he is the better man while Bekavac contests that the fight was always going to end in a TKO win anyway.

Now, almost fourteen years later, they will get a chance to settle the score once and for all.

3. KO Artist vs. Submission Specialist

Nothing screams a ’traditional’ MMA fight than the classic grappler vs. striker match-up and this is exactly what we have with KO artist Gracjan Szadzinski vs. submission specialist Marian Ziolkowski at KSW 48.

Szadzinski has finished six opponents with strikes including a devastating knockout win over UFC and Bellator veteran Paul Redmond in his last bout. Very few in the lightweight division possess the power Szadzinski has. However, looking to meet that power head on is Marian Ziolkowski.

’The Golden Boy’ has an really impressive twelve submission victories and also has a number of TKO wins. Overall he has a finishing ratio of 85%. He says he will be aiming to KO Szadzinski and beat him at his own game. One things is for sure though, everyone will be shocked if this goes the distance.

4. Featherweight Collision

A mouth watering match-up between promising Polish fighter Filip Wolanski (11-3) and unpredictable Croatian Filip Pejic (13-2-2) will go down on Saturday night.

The very well-rounded Wolanski joined KSW in 2016 while on an eight-fight-win-streak but has went 2-2 in the promotion since, albeit against tough opposition. Never the one to back down from a hard fight, he faces the dangerous Filip ’Nitro’ Pejic next.

Pejic, who has an 85% finishing ratio, comes into KSW on an impressive run and his only loss in the past seven years came when he made his sole UFC appearance when the promotion visited Croatia in 2016. Now that little bit older and more experienced, Pejic is ready to take on the big leagues once again when he faces tough Polish prospect Filip Wolanski in a fight which screams excitement.

5. Anticipated KSW Debuts

A number of fighters will be making their KSW debut this weekend, eight in total actually. Among those making their debut are undefeated Russian Shamil Musaev (12-0), Romanian champion Bogdan Ragdu (15-9), and the undefeated Cezary Kesik (8-0) from Poland.

25-year-old Musaev has eight stoppage wins and is a M-1 and Fight Nights Global veteran, Ragdu joins on a 7-1 run and as the RXF champion in Romania, and Kesik has finished all but one of his opponents thus far in his career.

Worth keeping an eye on these three for sure!
