Gamrot vs. Erbst Preview

KSW lightweight king Mateusz Gamrot (14-0) will attempt to make history and become the first dual weight champion at KSW 46 in Gliwice on December 1 when he faces Kleber Koike Erbst (24-4-1) for the vacant featherweight title.
Mateusz Gamrot has risen to become one of the top lightweight fighters in Europe. After beating top French fighter Mansour Barnaoui by unanimous decision to win the lightweight title at KSW 36, the undefeated star then defended his title three times, which include a decision win over Norman Parke and submission victories over Renato Gomes and Grzegorz Szulakowski. With no clear challenger in sight Gamrot has focused his attention on becoming the first fighter in KSW history to hold two titles at the same time.

Kleber Koike Erbst’s relationship with the KSW featherweight title has involved some turmoil. After winning the featherweight crown at KSW 39 last year, Erbst was forced to vacate the title after missing weight in his first title defense at KSW 41. He then beat Polish fan favourite Artur Sowinski at that event with a third round rear naked choke to assure the title remained vacant. At KSW 44 the submission specialist was then booked in a title fight opposite Marcin Wrzosek, but disaster struck and Wrzosek withdrew via injury. Erbst still fought at KSW 44 but at lightweight and against late notice replacement Marian Ziolkowski, submitting him in the first round.

Erbst has long been one of the top featherweights in the world and has amassed an incredible 20-1 record since 2010, and he avenged that lone loss with his win over Sowinski. Overall the 28-year-old, who has a black belt under Marcos Souza, has twenty submission wins on his record making him one of the most feared grapplers in the MMA world.

KSW 46 will be live around the world via online PPV this Saturday, December 1 on www.KSWTV.com.
