I’ll try not to disappoint my fans – interview with Mamed Khalidov
We present you with a short interview with Mamed Khalidov, who on Sunday has his most important fight of career - a Sengoku middleweight bout against Jorge Santiago. Here is the interview.
How was the trip to Japan?
- Long and tiresome, but we're finally here and it's cool.
Have you already acclimated here?
- Yes. I had a good sleep and I feel fine.
How was your preparations for this bout? Did you execute your whole training plan?
- I didn't train a lot. Most of the time I was chilling on my couch (laughing). I'm obviously joking. I feel really well. I'm in much better shape than the last time I was in Japan. As for the execution of my training plan you have to ask my coaches about it.
Jorge Santiago in one of his recent interviews told that this time he'd choke you out. What do you say about that?
- He'll choke me out? I didn't know he likes me that much. Why would he say something different. He lost the first bout and it's pretty clear that in the interviews he would say that this time he'd be the victor. He can say whatever he wants, I have different plans for this fight
So what's your plan?
- Do everything I can to get the win.
When we had our first interview, you confessed that fighting with the best in Japan is your ultimate goal. You have a chance of becoming Sengoku middleweight champion, will it fulfill this goal?
- I don't think about it. I don't know the outcome of the bout. If I'm victorious, we can talk about it then.
You left to Japan with a lot of luggage. Is there any free space, because everybody believes that you will bring additional baggage from Tokyo, and I'm not talking about souvenirs.
- (laughing) I said it before and I'll say it once again. I don't know if I'd win the belt.
Mamed I won't take more of your time. Have some rest and be aware that the whole Poland is rooting for you.
