KSW 15: Jurkowski vs Valtonen
Upcoming fifteenth Martial Arts Confrontation will mark a great return of the first KSW tournament champion Lukasz Jurkowski. The popular Juras squares off against one of the top European light heavyweights Toni Valtonen.
Valtonen is an experienced competitor ranked eighth in Europe in his weight division. His fighting style might not be exciting, but he’s efficient in every aspect of the game. He’s thirty-two years old and fights out of Espoon Kehahait gym. With thirty-four bouts under his belt, Valtonen is challenging opponent for anyone. – I don’t care about his ranking and I’m not intimidated. He’s got solid stand-up, good wrestling and he looks to be physically strong. I expect a hard battle, it won’t be easy to put him away, but sooner or later he’s going down – Jurkowski says in the KSW 15 video trailer.
In KSW Federation history there was only one fighter, who fought at eight consecutive events. It is Lukasz Jurkowski. After a two-year hiatus Juras returns to KSW ring to put on another great show. He’s excited to perform in front of his loyal fans in Warsaw. - I’m extremely eager to fight in my home city of Warsaw. I have many fans here and I really enjoy the applause of thousands in attendance – admits Juras.
Although he’s last two fight were at heavyweight, at KSW 15 Jurkowski will compete in his natural light heavyweight division. – I started my preparations in December to have a little more time to get back in shape after such a long break from training. Since the beginning of my training camp I’ve worked with Michal Garnys and his 4sportlab. He supervises my preparations. I dropped about ten kilograms in nine weeks, I feel healthy and ready to roll on March 19th. I train with many great fighters in Nastula Team as well as sharpen my wrestling and grappling with Michal Stanislawski and Kuba Zawadzki in Copacabana Fight Club. I put a special emphasis on my strength and conditioning routine. Poland has become crazy about MMA and with so much commentary work, my second love, I sometimes don’t have enough time to sleep. On this occasion, I’d like to thank Broad Gate and Wal Drew for supporting me in preparations for KSW 15 – Jurkowski tells us.
Jurkowski and Valtonen are totally different fighters and so are their fighting styles. Their entrances will also be far from similar. You can hear Finn’s entrance song here and Juras’ music is available here.
