KSW 42 Fight Card Complete

KSW 42 takes place March 3 live from the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland and it is live around the world on www.KSWTV.com.

The legendary Mamed Khalidov (34-4-2) returns to the cage for the first time since his main event win at KSW 39: Colosseum in front over almost 58,000 people last May. That time he faced the then welterweight champion Borys Mankowski but now he faces a new test in the shape of current KSW light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun (14-2).

Khalidov’s current 14 fight win streak stretches back to 2010 and includes wins over Luke Barnatt, Melvin Manhoef, Kendall Grove, Jesse Taylor, and Matt Lindland. Overall the 37-year-old has lost just once in his past 34 fights and has posted an incredible 20-0 unbeaten streak in the KSW arena. Now Tomasz Narkun will aim to end that run and defeat the legend.

Standing at 6’3" and nine years his junior, Narkun is arguably the most dangerous opponent Khalidov has faced. Narkun won the light heavyweight title at KSW 32 when he finished Goran Reljic via first round TKO. He has since defended his title three times, all first round stoppages. ’The Giraffe’ has a 100% finishing ratio with 11 submissions and 3 TKO/KO’s on his record and vows to do everything he can to end Khalidov’s run.

The co-main event will see a huge middleweight fight between fan favourite Michal Materla (25-5) and UFC veteran Scott Askham (15-4). Materla recently finished top Brazilian fighter Paulo Thiago with a big right hand at KSW 40 in Dublin this past October. This win marked a triumphant return to the cage for ’Cipao’ following a short layoff and it was his third straight stoppage victory after finishing former KSW champ Antoni Chmielewski and Rousimar Palhares in his two previous bouts. Now Materla wants to add Askham’s name to that list and to also be the first one to finish the English star.

Scott Askham signed with KSW at the end of 2017 following an impressive win over fellow UK veteran Luke Barnatt. Prior to that Askham fought six times in the UFC and is a former BAMMA champion. With eleven stoppages on his record, including a ’Performance of the Night’ highlight reel finish over Chris Dempsey, the 29-year-old is a dangerous opponent for anyone.

At KSW 42 undefeated KSW lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot (13-0) faces a new title challenger in the shape of the dangerous Grzegorz Szulakowski (9-1). Gamrot won the title at KSW 36 by beating top French fighter Mansour Barnaoui by unanimous decision. The 27-year-old then defended the strap two times, once against Brazilian veteran Renato Gomes and once against rival Norman Parke. Szulakowski enters this contest having built up a reputation as being a very exciting and unpredictable fighter. An eight-fight-win-streak, four of which have been under the KSW banner, follows the 30-year-old into this fight. Overall, seven of his nine wins have come via knockout or submission. It really is game on in this fight!

Also on the card ’The Violence Queen’ Ariane Lipski (10-3) will defend her KSW women’s flyweight title, Irish MMA pioneer Chris Fields (12-7-1), from the renowned SBG gym, will look to continue his winnings ways, and KSW veteran Lukasz Jurkowski (16-10) returns once again to face on old rival.
