KSW26: Streak of injuries and fight card changes

Unfortunately injuries are part of this sport and many MMA promoters have to deal with frequent withdrawals from their shows after fighters suffer from severe injuries in the finishing parts of their deadly training camps.

The bug of injuries hit KSW 26 fight card as well. It began with Ankos Zapasy fighters Mateusz Gamrot and Michał Włodarek breaking their foot and thumb respectively a couple weeks ago. Former UFC champion Tim Sylvia followed them with back injury. When everyone thought that it cannot get even worse, another two fighter had to drop out.

We are sorry to inform that KSW 26 card will not feature KSW heavyweight champion Karol Bedorf who suffered a spine injury, about which he informed us yesterday through his representatives. It is so severe that he will not be able to compete on Saturday. To make matters worse former Nandor Guelmino will also not come to Poland to face Marcin Różalski. The Austrian, just like Bedorf, got injured during the last parts of his preparations for KSW 26.

KSW Federation owners had to act quick in order to save the card, the following decisions were made:

  • Marcin Różalski, who was supposed to face Guelmino, will now square off against Bedorf’s opponent Nick Rossborough
  • Another match-up was added to the main card. Jakub Kowalewicz will battle Lithuanian Sergei Grecicho
  • The undercard bout between Arbi Shamaev and Helson Henriques remains unchanged
  • The KSW 26 main card will feature seven bouts
  • The undercard portion of the card remains unchanged and features one bout
