Marcin Najman - interview

We encourage you to read an interesting interview with a Polish heavyweight boxer and KSW 12 participant Marcinem "El Testosteronem" Najmanem.

Hell Marcin. It's been a long time sine we last talked to each other. Please tell me, how are you?
- Thanks, I'm fine.
I've read in some of your recent interviews that you are not training at the moment. It's been a few months since your last bout, is this break not too long?
- When I said that I was not training I didn't mean the absolute lack of sporting activity. I train regularly, I'm just not in a preparation for any bout, though. I always try to be in shape in my career, with one exception. After the operation which forced me to withdraw from KSW 11, I didn't do anything for almost five months and it was pretty bad. That's exactly when we had a photo shoot before Pudzianowski fight (laughing)
I've heard that you are scheduled to fight in USA. Will it be a boxing or a MMA bout?
- Two weeks ago I received the offer to fight on the show in Chicago. It will be broadcasted on Showtime and that's why I was hesitant to reject it. The offer was very temping and made by respected people Hubert Kozub and Tomasz Skarzynski. They both organized Poland vs USA boxing match in Silesia. It was visited by the great champion Andrzej Golota, which shows that these people are professionals. Hubert is also Krzysztof Zimnoch's US promoter.
So what's your decision? Are you fighting?
- Unfortunately I didn't take the fight, it's not the right time to come back. However, I'm very pleased that I was offered such an opportunity and it's possible I'll showcase my skills in front of Polish people in Chicago this year.
Let's talk about MMA and your second fight. You're set to return in September, when do you start you training camp? Who are you going to work with?
- I'll definitely return to the KSW ring this year, but I don't know exactly when. I don't want to end my MMA career with a loss to Pudzianowski. It's a long time till September, so there is no sense in talking about potential opponents.
Is there anyone specific you want to face in your second fight?
- Well, in terms of quality of my opponents I started from the top of mountain. It won't be easy to find anyone who is stronger than Mariusz, so anybody else should be an easier challenge (laughing).
What are your thoughts on Mariusz. How do you foresee his future in MMA?
- Mariusz has a real upside as a fighter. Superhuman strength and an amazing speed and agility. I experienced it myself (laughing). If he wisely chooses his opponents he can reach the top of this sport and I wish him that. On May 7th on KSW 13 Pudzian will have his second MMA bout in Katowice and two weeks later he is scheduled to fight in USA. As an experienced pro athlete what do you think about it. Two fight in two weeks, does it make any sense?
- It all depends on how the first one unfolds. If it's really hard and he suffers injuries I suspect the second one might be cancelled. However, if everything runs smoothly in Katowice, the next fight two weeks later won't be a problem.
Do you want to comment on a conflict which erupted between you and a group of boxer after Pudzianowski fight?
- It's not a group, they're henchmen of Saleta and Wasilewski. Jealous frustrated people. Their acquainted journalist wrote an article for them and the thought they did something fantastic. Wait, the journalist is not a right word, a hack, who called this gang a group of best Polish boxers. Even semi-knowledgeable person knows that Andrzej Golota, Tomasz Adamek and Dariusz Michalczewski are the best Polish boxers. I respect them all, because they deserve it. My relationship with them is perfect.
At the last boxing event and on KSW vernissage a beautiful blond Ewa Wojtasik kept your company. She's a singer, a model and most importantly an outstanding fitness model. Have you already participated in her fitness classes? (laughing)
- As I mentioned before. Ewa is really amazing fitness instructor, she gave me valuable advice how to train my abs. (laughing). Apart from that remember that curiosity killed the cat. (lauging)
Polsat TV has recently started a new TV show, where famous athletes and celebrities sing along with professional singers. Have you ever thought of participating in this show.
- No, I wouldn't take part in anything involving dancing or singing. I can't do it and I don't like it.
Ok. Let's leave fitness and singing. What about your "Superman" nomination, tell us about it.
- It's a pleasant nomination. I've already started looking for a superman costume. (laughing). But seriously, I'm among ten nominees and I believe Pawel Nastula, Mariusz Czerkawski and Michal Zebrowski are the favorites. All nominees are outstanding personas.
How did you like the KSW vernissage?
- I've always said that KSW is on a different level than their competition. Maciej and Marcin are always two steps ahead with their ideas. This vernissage is a proof of that. They did amazing job in creating KSW brand, which is now known all over the world.
Marcin thanks for your time
- No problem. Greetings to all my fans.
