Marcin Wrzosek vs. Roman Szymański in possible title eliminator at KSW 41
As Kleber Koike Erbst (22-4-1) defends his featherweight title against Artur Sowinski (18-8) on the KSW 41 card the next challenger for the 145lbs crown will be decided earlier in the night as Marcin Wrzosek (12-4) will face off against Roman Szymański (10-3) in Katowice, Poland.
Former KSW champ and a member of Team McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter, Marcin Wrzosek joined the KSW roster last year following his stint on the reality TV show and quickly established himself as a serious player in the featherweight division with a unanimous decision over the in-form Filip Wolanski at KSW 35. This performance earned Wrzosek a title shot and at KSW 37 he defeated then champ Artur Sowinski.
However this past May at the historic KSW 39 event in front of nearly 58,000 people he was on the wrong end of a decision and he dropped the title to Erbst. Now ’The Polish Zombie’ will be looking to claw his way back to the title but first he must go through top prospect Roman Szymanski.
At just 24-years-old, Szymanski has already a wealth of knowledge in the fight game. He turned pro in 2012 and after a couple of early setbacks he then went on an 8-1 tear on the Polish scene. This earned him a spot on the KSW roster and he has since went 2-0 with wins over very credible opponents. Now the youngster is on the cusp of getting a title shot but he now faces his toughest opponent to date in Marcin Wrzosek.
