KSW Federation announces another main event bout of KSW 29 scheduled for later November / early December 2014. In the middleweight championship clash Michał Materla defends his title for the fourth time, facing the Dutch knockout artist Melvin Manhoef (28-11-1, 26 KO).
Materla has been the KSW middleweight title holder since May of 2012, when he defeated Jay Silva for the first time at KSW 19. In his title defenses the Szczecin’s Berserkers Team fighter beat Rodney Wallace, Kendall Grove and most recently Jay Silva at KSW 26 this March. Before “Magic” steps in the KSW 29’s cage, he still is scheduled to face Jorge Luis Bezerra at October’s KSW 28: Fighters’ Den event in Szczecin.
Being a decorated kickboxer as well as the experienced MMA competitor, the Dutchman is regarded as one of the most feared strikers in combat sports. In his twenty-eight professional victories, he finished twenty-six opponents by way of knockout. “No Mercy” already fought for KSW in June of 2013. At KSW 23 he was submitted by the best Polish mixed martial artist Mamed Khalidov. However, he bounced back from this setback, scoring a 46-second knockout over former Materla’s opponent Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos.
Materla vs. Manhoef along with earlier announced Mariusz Pudzianowski vs. Paweł Nastula showdown are only two of three headliners of this monumental show. The third main-eventer Mamed Khalidov still awaits his opponent.
