Michal Andryszak Returns at KSW 49
One of the most fearsome heavyweights in Europe will make his long awaited return to the cage at KSW 49 in Gdansk on May 18th.
The last time we saw Michal Andryszak (20-7) he came up short against Phil De Fries at KSW 43 in a contest for the vacant heavyweight title. It has been just over a year since we saw the behemoth heavyweight in action and now he is ready to return.
The 27-year-old has a fearsome reputation of finishing opponents and his fight stats are one of the most impressive in the heavyweight division. Andryszak has an incredible nineteen first round finishes, thirteen KO wins, has submitted six of his opponents, and has never went the distance in his entire career.
After signing with KSW in 2017 he made his debut with a first round submission win over Michal Kita at the historic KSW 39 event in front of 57,766 people, he then followed this up with a devastating KO win over former champ Fernando Rodrigues Jr., sending the Brazilian to the canvas in less than 30 seconds at KSW 41.
These two performances earned him a shot to compete for the vacant heavyweight title. He had De Fries in a lot of trouble early on landing thumping body kicks and power punches, but the veteran fighter showed composure and weathered the storm before finding himself in top position and landing ground and pound on Andryszak until the referee has seen enough. A valuable learning experience for the Polish heavyweight.
Now all eyes will be on him to see how he comes back and to see what a year off has done for him.
KSW 49 will be headlined by Michal Materla (27-6) vs. Scott Askham (17-4) in a much anticipated rematch for the vacant middleweight title and Roberto Soldic (15-3) will defend his welterweight title in the co-main event against the undefeated Krystian Kaszubowski (7-0). Also Damian Grabowski (21-5) will finally make his KSW debut and he will face former heavyweight champ Karol Bedorf (15-4) and social media stars Erko Jun (2-0) & Akop Szostak (3-2) will collide.
The event will stream live around the world on www.KSWTV.com.
