Michal Materla added to KSW 44
Former KSW middleweight champ and one of the biggest names in Polish MMA Michal Materla (25-6) has recently been added to the KSW 44 card on June 9 in Gdansk, Poland.
The 34-year-old held the 185lbs strap for almost four years between but dropped it to longtime friend and fellow legend Mamed Khalidov. Following this loss he went on to dismantle three top names in the sport. At KSW 35 he finished former KSW champ Antoni Chmielewski in the first round before scoring second round KO’s over UFC vets Rousimar Palhares and Paulo Thiago at KSW 36 and KSW 40, respectively.
Unfortunately though Materla’s train back towards the title got derailed in his last fight. Top UK middleweight Scott Askham silenced the crowd in Lodz, Poland with an early first round shock defeat of Materla. But as he has done before, ’Cipao’ is picking himself back up and heading straight into the KSW arena to battle once again.
His opponent will be announced soon over the next couple of weeks. So stay tuned to KSW on Facebook and Twitter.
In other news, former weltweight champ Borys Mankowski has had to withdraw from KSW 44 due to injury and will hopefully be back in action later in the year or earlier 2019.
