Michał Materla vs Tomasz Drwal headlines KSW 31 in Gdańsk
KSW middleweight title fight between reigning champion Michał “Magic” Materla and Tomasz “Gorilla” Drwal will headline KSW 31 on May 23rd in ERGO ARENA in Gdańk/Sopot.
Polish MMA legend Tomasz Drwal (21-4-1, 12 KO, 6 Sub) joined KSW roster last year and was scheduled to face Mamed Khalidov at KSW 29 in Kraków. Unfortunately he was forced to withdraw from the fight with neck injury. With Khalidov now on the sidelines, KSW decided to match Drwal against KSW middleweight titleholder Michał Materla (21-4, 3 KO, 12 Sub). The ultimate fan favorite and one of the most exciting fighters in Polish MMA will defend his belt for the fourth time, for the first time against the Polish foe.
KSW 31 triple-header will also feature the world’s strongest MMA fighter Mariusz “Pudzian” Pudzianowski (8-3, 2 KO, 2 Sub) in his thirteenth professional bout. The opponent for the Polish mega star will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
The third fight from the top of May’s event will feature KSW heavyweight champion Karol „Coco” Bedorf (11-2, 3 KO, 3 Sub) in his second defense versus Australian kickboxer Peter Graham (11-7, 10 KO). The undefeated in the last four years Berserkers Team Szczecin and Ankos Zapasy Poznań Team product will look to extend his winning streak to six consecutive victories against the dangerous K-1 knockout artist.
Also on the card, Goran “The Ghost” Reljic (14-4, 5 KO, 5 Sub) will fight for the vacant KSW light heavyweight crown, former lightweight champion Maciej “Irokez” Jewtuszko (11-2, 6 KO, 5 Sub) will go up in weight against seasoned welterweight Robert Radomski (12-3, 1 KO, 5 Sub), two heavy hitters Jay Silva (9-9-1, 6 KO, 2 Sub) and Aziz Karaoglu (7-6, 6 KO, 1 Sub) in the middleweight contest as well as two top three light heavyweights in Poland crisp boxer Karol Celiński (12-5-1, 4 KO, 6 Sub) and submission specialist Tomasz Narkun (9-2, 9 Sub).
