Not many people get a chance to beat a legend in a main event while the world is watching. This is exactly the opportunity KSW light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun (14-2) has this Saturday night when he faces the icon that is Mamed Khalidov (34-4-2) in the main event of KSW 42.

Prior to this Narkun had essentially wiped out the light heavyweight division. He won the light heavyweight title at KSW 32 when he beat Goran Reljic, a man who had previously beaten him, in emphatic fashion with a first round TKO win. Since then he dispatched of three challengers, all in the first round.

What was next for the 28-year-old? Well he took it upon himself and called out KSW middleweight champ Mamed Khalidov, a legend in Polish and European MMA. After various social media posts calling for the fight he got what he wanted and the KSW brass announced the fight.

"I expected there was a chance for this fight that was the reason why I asked for it," said Narkun. "I have a great respect for Mamed because he is an amazing athlete and person. Our fight is purely sport competition and to test myself against the best."

Heading into a fight against someone like Mamed must be slightly daunting. After all he is undefeated in the KSW arena with his streak stretching back twenty fights, he is the current middleweight champ and is a former light heavyweight champion himself before he relinquished it, and possesses a fight resume to rival some of the best around. Despite all this Narkun is actually relishing this opportunity and states he has a number of advantages heading into this fight, including his own winning streak of five straight first round finishes.

"I have an advantage of physical condition and strength. My unconventional style will also be an important factor. I will want to immediately impose my game plan in this clash," explained Narkun. "It’s always better when you are on winning streak heading into big fights. The more wins the bigger wings you get. I am very confident and determined. This is my great opportunity."

Narkun, being a reigning and defending KSW champion, already considers himself and one of the best in the world at light heavyweight but admits a win over Khalidov would be the biggest accomplishment of his career.

"I believe I am one of the best 10 light heavyweights in the world. But I think that beating Mamed Khalidov will be my greatest achievement," said Narkun. And when pressed for a prediction for this fight he smiled and simple said: "I enter the cage, fulfill my game plan, dominate and win, it does not matter how."
