Pudzianowski: I just want this fight to be fun and unforgettable.
This Saturday night in the main event of KSW 44 Mariusz Pudzianowski and Karol Bedorf will finally clash in a fight that fans have been demanding for years!
Coming off his most impressive win to date, a decision over Jay Silva, where he showed improved all round technique and incredible heart and determination to dig deep. Pudzianowski says he learned a lot from this fight but is also critical of his performance.
"I’m not happy about my last performance because I took a lot of shots. Besides that I am never satisfied. Even when I was a World’s Strongest Man I had a lot to complain about," stated Pudzianowski. "But I did learn a lot, I proved to myself that I have hard chin, that I have stamina for 3 rounds. Before that fight I was quitting when I was in serious trouble. This win over Jay showed me that I can fight and win even when I am exhausted but I still have mental power."
Now 41-years-old, a time when many fighters are well on the down slope of their career, Pudzianowski has shown that he is greatly improved. One thing though he is focused on is his conditioning and strives to constantly evolving as a martial artists and will not rest on his laurels.
"The most important thing I am focused on is that I’m still improving my condition. You can be the best jiu-jitsu artist or kickboxing fighter but when you have no gas in the tank you can’t do nothing," said Pudzianowski. "I will never say that this is the best ’Mariusz Pudzianowski’ ever. Like I said, there is always something to learn and I will never have time to gain knowledge about everything I want. Step by step I’m moving forward."
Though Pudzianowksi and Bedorf are facing each other in the cage there is no rivalry or bad blood between the two. Pudzianowski has admiration of Bedorf’s success in KSW.
"He is nice and polite guy – I can’t tell more about him because we are not friends. I know him just from KSW events," said Pudzianowski. "He was a KSW champion for 3 years and that is a big achievement. That’s says everything about how good fighter he is."
Despite Bedorf coming in off a long layoff the former world’s strongest man doesn’t think about whether his opponent will have ring rust or not and say that he is only focused on being the best he can be and laments that at heavyweight anything can happen. And whatever that is in this fight, Pudzian wants it to be special!
"It doesn’t matter to me that Bedorf hasn’t fought in over a year, or whether he will have ring rust or not. I’m focused only on myself and being the best I can be," stated Pudzianowski. "The most important thing is not to make a mistake. In heavyweight category that costs a lot. I just want this fight to be fun and unforgettable."
