The 10th KSW camp and Krzysztof Soszyński profile.
KSW Federation camps are the great opportunity for all MMA enthusiast, novice or experienced fighters to train with the best Polish fighters. The coaches who are the integral part of the best promotion in Poland pass on practical and theoretical knowledge to all participants, helping to create the new breed of Polish fighters.
The level of MMA craft among the camps’ participants varies. There are more advanced fighters with professional bouts on their records as well as MMA beginners with backgrounds in martial arts such as judo, boxing, karate or kickboxing. More often than not complete novice attend the camps and are taught the absolute basics by the coaches.
The trainings during the camps are set according to the strict schedule and include technique as well as strength and conditioning classes.
Each year we organize two camps, the summer and the winter one. The coaching staff is dependent on the coaches, who are still active fighters. If the camp does not collide with their fight preparations, they participate in the camp. So far we had Mamed Khalidov, Łukasz Jurkowski, Borys Mańskowski, Krzysztof Kułak, Daniel Dowda, Michał Garnys, Marcin Różalski, Michał Materla, Jan BłachowiczandAntoni Chmielewskias KSW camps trainers.
Michał Garnys from 4sportLab (www.4sportlab.pl) is the coordinator of every KSW camp. He is a former judoka and one the first strength and conditioning experts in Poland, who introduced special cardio-vascular tests for the best MMA fighters, cyclists, track and field athletes and footballers of the Polish premier league.
This year KSW Federation will hold the 10th KSW camp in COS – Olympic Preparations Center in Giżycko. For the first time in history, the it will be divided into two turns, one from 3rd to 12th July and the second from 12th to 21st July.
The recognizable in the MMA community coaches and fighters will also be a part of the coaching staff at the upcoming 10th KSW camp. Among them, one of the few Poles who fought for the UFC Krzysztof Soszyński, will teach the participants from his extensive MMA experience. Here is his profile (source: Wikipedia):
“Polish mixed martial artist with a Canadian citizenship. From 2008 signed with UFC, where he fights in the light heavyweight division. He was born in Stalowa Wola, but in the eighties emigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. When he was sixteen he started to train bodybuilding and later become a professional wrestler. After two years he began training Brazilian jiu jitsu, competed in a few grappling competitions and finally made his MMA debut. From 2003 to 2006 he had more than twenty fights on local shows in Canada and USA and won the TKO organization heavyweight championship. In March 2006 he fought at the inaugural Strikeforce show against Mike Kyle. The bout was declared a technical draw, after Kyle accidentally put a finger to Soszyński’s eye, what made him unable to continue the fight. In 2006-2007 he was a fighter for IFL organization, but he earned wide popularity by taking part in the eighth season of the Ultimate Fighter, where he was in the Frank Mir’s team. Soszyński made it to semifinals of the show, where he was submitted by the decorated grappler Vinny Magalhaes. He still received the UFC contract, competing in nine bouts, six of which he won (four inside the distance). For his victories over Shane Primm and Brian Stann he was honored with submission of the night bonuses.
In September 2012, after successful knee surgeries he proclaimed to be ready to come back to fighting.
