"The level MMA in Poland is very high" – interview with Marcus Vantinnen
We encourage you to read the interview with Finnish fighter Marcus Vanttinen, who is scheduled to face Antoni Chmielewski at Cage 13 – Spring Break. Vanttinen praises the level of Polish MMA and skills of his opponent:
Very few MMA fans in Poland know about you. Please introduce yourself.
- My name is Marcus Vanttinen, I’m 22 years old and I live in Porvoo in Finland. I started my MMA journey when I first saw old UFC videos. I decided to try it myself and I do it to this day.
You probably train all MMA disciplines now, but what is your background style?
- It’s Brazilina Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai.
What are you biggest MMA achievements?
- I won Fight Festival 4 tournament, I was a Finnish boxing and wrestling champion. I also represented my country in the M-1 Challenge series.
On May 8th you are facing KSW Team fighter Antoni Chmielewski. What can you say about him.
- I know that he’s very experienced, beat many good opponents and has a background in Judo.
Does the fact that Chmielewski won KSW tournaments twice impress you?
- I treat my every opponent seriously. Even if he had no wins under his belt I wouldn’t take him lightly.
Do you have a strategy set for this bout?
- Yes I have, but it is my sweet mystery (laughing).
You will beat Chmielewski, because...
... I want to have more wins than him (laughing).
You have recently fought against Krzysztof Kulak. Judging from that bout, what can you say about the level of MMA in Poland?
- Kulak is a well rounded fighter, he’s tough and tenacious. This fight was one the toughest in my career. I know that you have many great fighters in Poland and the level of your MMA is really high. However, you have to remember that Finland is the top country in Europe in grappling.
Your last three opponents have also fought for KSW. Do you know anything about our show?
- It would be silly not to know this top-notch European MMA event. I know a lot about KSW, I watched some of your shows. You are really good at what you do and hopefully I’ll fight in KSW some day.
