"The most spectacular knockout in my career" – interview with Jan Blachowicz

We invite you to read the interview with KSW 13 tournament finalist, KSW Team fighter Jan Bachowicz. The popular John admits that the knockout against Julio Brutus was the most spectacular in his career, talks about his opponent in the final and his UFC dream.

How was it to fight in front of Silesian audience?
- They were great. I want to thank all the fans, not only from Silesia, but also from other parts of the country, who supported me. There were people from all over Poland in Spodek. I’m especially thankful for my family town Cieszyn fans. I was hearing their cheering throughout both of my fights.
How would you rate you return to the ring.
- I think it was ideal. That’s why I want to thank everyone who helped me to be here: my sponsors Mevago, Brep, Formma, the whole rehabilitation team with Robert Trybulska from Zory in particular, coaches Grzegorz Jarzabek, Eugeniusz Mandrysz and my teammates from Oktagon Rybnik. Thank also goes to Pawel Nastula, Andriej Molchanov, Daniel Omielanczuk, Robert Jocz, Piotr Strus, Arek Jedracza, Andrzej Pniewski, Wojtek Orlowski and all the guys from Nastula Fight Club.
Obviously I want to thank my family, my girlfriend Dorota and doctor Robert Smigelski who fixed my knee.

Did you expect that your road to the final would be so easy?
- My wins are only the result of my hard work, so it wasn’t an easy road.
How did you feel after dispatching Julio Brutus knowing that you will now face your teammate Wojtek Orlowski.
- It wasn’t pleasant at all. However, in the ring you have to be able to distinguish friendship from competition. After our fight nothing has changed, we’re still friends and we’ll still train with each other. Wojciech greetings (laughing).
Was the KO over Brutus the most spectacular in Jan Blachowicz’s career?
- I don’t know what other people think, but in my opinion yes, it was.
The tournament final is scheduled for the next KSW event. What can you say about your opponent?
- I didn’t see his fights live, because I was focused on warming-up and my bouts. Tabera is a very experienced and accomplished fighter, you can’t look past him. However, I think I’ll do well in the final!
The next show is probably in September. Do you plan to take any other fights before that?
- We will see. I’d like to, it all depends on the offers.
Lukasz Jurkowski, who was commentating the KSW 13 show for Polsat TV said that you are really close to fighting in the UFC. What do you think about it?
- It’s not important what I think, Joe Silva’s and Dana White’s opinions matter. Fighting in UFC is my dream and my ultimate goal. I hope that Lukasz’s words are prophetic (laughing).
Thank you Janek for the interview and all the best in your next fights.
- Thanks and greeting to everyone.
