"Winning the KSW belt is my dream" – interview with Karolina Kowalkiewicz

We present you with an interview with one of the KSW female tournament finalists Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The fighter from Łódź talks about her preparations to KSW23, encourages fans to buy the PPV and reveals her championship dreams. Enjoy the interview below.

Hello Karolina. How do you feel four weeks before your fight?

-  Hi there. Thank you, I’m fine, as always. I’m looking forward to June 8th.

Tell me about your preparation. Where and with whom do you train?

-  My entire training camp is based in Łódź in Gracie Barra Łódź under watchfull eye of my coach Marcin Rogowski. I’m fortunate that in my team there plenty of lighter guys and usually spar with such guys as Damian Szmigielski or Marcin Lasota. We also plan to visit some friends in other gyms for additional sparring sessions.

Do you have any nagging injuries that affect your preparations?

-  I train really hard so there are some minor injuries, but fortunately nothing severe.

You don’t like to talk about your opponents in the interview, but please make an exception for me this time. Where do you think Marta Chojnoska is most dangerous?

- I think it’s obvious for everyone. Marta is an experienced fighter superb stand-up skills and good judo skills. Her ground game is a bit of a mystery, but judging from professional approach to combat sports, I believe she’ll be well-prepared in that area as well.

In your first KSW appearance you received the fight of the night bonus. Can you guarantee that your clash against “Mysza” will be as good as that?

 - It’s a fight, anything can happen. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee anything. I can only promise that I’ll do my best and I hope our fight will as positively received as the KSW 21 bout.

Provided you win on June 8th, you will become the first KSW Federation female champion in history. Do you even think about, while preparing for the fight?

- I have it on my mind and it is my dream, but I try not to think about it too much. I treat this like just another bout.

In your third MMA fight you get a unique chance to win the prestigious belt of the biggest European MMA promotion. Do you consider it to be a special honor or do you try to remain composed about it?

- For me it’s amazing and I’m really grateful to KSW owners for this opportunity. However, I try to  be cold-headed about it.

The show will air on PPV. How would you encourage fans to buy it?

- I sincerely invite you to watch the June 8th KSW 23 show and cheer for your favorite fighters. I understand that some of don’t like the fact that it will be on PPV, but it’s just the way it is. In the USA almost all shows are on PPV and nobody complains about. You can always chip in with your friends and you won’t regret it, I can guarantee that it will a good investment.
