XTB KSW Colosseum 2 Results
XTB KSW Colosseum 2 took place Saturday evening, June 3, from the PGE Narodowy football stadium in Warsaw, Poland. 50,000 fans witnessed one of the biggest and most exciting events in MMA history.
The main event saw the legendary Mamed Khalidov (37-8-2) win his trilogy fight with the UK's Scott Askham (19-6) thanks to another highlight reel finish. The 42-year-old looked as impressive as ever as he controlled the fight throughout before landing a flying knee followed by punches to get the finish in the final round.
Former heavyweight boxing contender Artur Szpilka (3-0) got arguably the biggest win of his sporting career as he rallied back from a first round mauling to drop the world's strongest man Mariusz Pudzianowski (17-9) in the second round.
A new KSW middleweight champion was crowned as Pawl Pawlak (22-4-1) saw off Tomasz Romanowski (18-9). It was a hard fought win for Pawlak but, after constant pressure and control, he managed to secure the finish in the fifth round to lift the vacant title.
KSW legend Michal Materla (33-9) rewound the clock last night and treated us to a vintage knockout in the first round. The veteran, who has the most fights in KSW history, dug deep and battle through a storm of punches to land powerful right hand of his own to KO opponent Radoslaw Paczuski (5-2).
Elsewhere on the card, former Glory heavyweight Arek Wrzosek (3-0) submitted Bogdan Stoica (0-1) with a forearm choke, Valeriu Mircea (29-8-1) won the rematch with Roman Szymanski (17-7), and former WBO cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Głowacki (1-0) scored a KO of the year contender against Patryk Tołkaczewski (0-1).
Finally, the co-main event lightweight title fight between Marian Ziolkowski and Salahdine Parnasse was cancelled during the event as Ziolkowski injured himself backstage. As a result of this, and continued inactivity, he vacated the lightweight title.
